Nakshatras: The Stars of Vedic Astrology
In ancient times, learned sages classified the zodiac into 27 constellations, or Nakshatras, of 13.20 degrees each. Nakshatra, also known as a lunar mansion or constellation, plays a key role in Vedic astrology. According to Hindu mythology, all 27 Nakshatras are daughters of Daksha and are married to the Moon, who spends nearly one day in each constellation. This makes a lunar month approximately 27 days long, corresponding to the number of Nakshatras.

Each Nakshatra is further divided into four quarters, called Pada, each spanning 3.20 degrees. These divisions, also known as Navamsa, are critical in making accurate astrological predictions. The Nakshatra in which the Moon resides at the time of a person’s birth is known as the Janma Nakshatra or birth star.
Nakshatras are divided based on several factors, such as caste, gender, deity, ownership, species, etc. Each zodiac sign encompasses nine Padas. These Nakshatras help in determining the starting point of planetary periods, or dashas, and are also used to select auspicious timings for important events or Muhurtha.
Today’s Nakshatra
Understanding the Nakshatra of today can provide insights into how your day might unfold. Even a favorable-looking planet in your birth chart may cause unexpected challenges if it resides in an unfavorable Nakshatra. Hence, it is important to consider Nakshatras carefully when predicting life events.

The Importance of Nakshatra in Astrology

This Nakshatra-based approach is the foundation of systems like the Satyacharya System, which emphasizes the role of Nakshatras in providing astrological discipline.
Navtara Chakra & Nakshatra Lordship
The Navtara Chakra is a powerful predictive tool that helps astrologers derive predictions with high accuracy. Systems like Vimshottari Dasha rely on the Moon’s progression through Nakshatras. The Nakshatra, which houses the Lagna, Moon, and other planets, is instrumental in predicting life events.
